Amber Johnson

BA (Hons), MSc
Post-Roman Pottery Specialist

Amber joined PCA in 2024 as a trainee in post-Roman pottery and archives. Following in-house training from the team at PCA, she now works as a specialist in medieval and post-medieval pottery, primarily analysing ceramic assemblages from sites across London, Cambridgeshire, and south-east England.

Amber graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Archaeology before completing an MSc in Archaeological Science at University College London in 2023, specialising in pottery. Her postgraduate research focused on a collection of early 16th-century terracotta sculptures from Westminster Abbey, examining their manufacture and composition.

Her particular interests include late 18th and 19th century inn assemblages and the integration of pottery evidence with other material categories, such as glass, to develop a more comprehensive understanding of an archaeological site.
