Amanda Hayes

Roman Pottery Specialist

Amanda started as a community archaeologist and Treasurer of the Braughing Archaeology Group. After gaining local and regional experience with BAG, she began volunteering part-time with PCA in 2015, before being offered a permanent position in the Finds Department. Amanda was then offered an opportunity to train as a Roman pottery specialist, and has spent the past four years working with assemblages from all over East Anglia, reporting on  sites from evaluation to monograph level. 

Amanda is also a committee member of the East Herts Archaeological Society and a member of the Study Group for Roman Pottery. She holds a BA in English Literature, magna cum laude from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY and has also worked as a magazine editor, science communicator, and professional chef.
