Photography is an important part of PCA's built heritage work, providing a detailed visual record of buildings and structures before alteration, repair or demolition. Our photographers work alongside the Historic Buildings team to document architectural features, historic fabric and evidence of change.
Detailed and accurate records
PCA can provide photographic recording at different levels, from basic photographic records through to detailed analytical recording. Our work can include general and detailed architectural photography, as well as rectified photography where accurate images of elevations or other surfaces are required.
Photography can form part of a wider historic building recording programme, alongside written and drawn records, historical research and survey. PCA also has in-house expertise in digital imaging, graphics and publication, allowing photographic material to be prepared for reports, interpretation and publication.
