A Rapid Site Appraisal provides an initial assessment of the archaeological and built heritage risks associated with a potential development site. It gives you an early understanding of the issues that could affect a site before significant time or money is committed.
A useful first step
We review available archaeological, historical and heritage information to identify potential constraints and highlight issues that may require further investigation. An RSA is less detailed than a Desk-Based Assessment and is not intended to support a planning application.
It can be particularly useful when considering land purchase or sale, assessing development opportunities or deciding whether a site warrants further investigation. The findings can help inform early decisions about a site's potential, risks and next steps.
