WSIs Clear, project-specific strategies for archaeological work
A Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI) sets out how archaeological work will be carried out, recorded and reported. PCA prepares WSIs tailored to individual sites and projects, providing a clear framework for investigation and helping meet archaeological requirements attached to planning conditions.
Clear plans for archaeological work
Our WSIs set out the scope and methodology for the proposed work, together with requirements for recording, reporting, archiving and, where appropriate, publication. They are developed in response to the site's archaeological potential, the development proposals and the requirements of the relevant planning authority or archaeological advisor.
A WSI can cover a range of archaeological work, including evaluation, excavation, monitoring and recording, and historic building recording. We work with clients, consultants and planning authorities to develop an appropriate and proportionate approach.
