Bermondsey Square A major archaeological investigation
PCA's investigations at Bermondsey Square took place between 1998 and 2018, revealing evidence spanning the prehistoric, Roman, Saxon, medieval and post-medieval periods. The discoveries include a possible Middle Saxon minster, the medieval priory and abbey, and the remains of Sir Thomas Pope's 16th-century mansion. The research continues, with the results now being published in PCA's Monograph Series, with Volume I available now and Volume II forthcoming.
