Bronagh Rae-Quinn

Bronagh started her career in archaeology in 2014, working part time in the Oxford Archaeology East environmental processing department while finishing her undergraduate degree in Archaeology and Landscape History. After working for various archaeological units across the East of England, Bronagh joined the Colchester Archaeological Trust in 2018, where she quickly took over the day-to-day running of Enviro. This included the logging, processing, and assessment of samples from across East Anglia, with particular focus on Roman Colchester, where she worked on a site with over 300 bulk and spot samples. During this time, Bronagh also spent time training staff, volunteers, and work experience students on how to process archaeological samples. 

Bronagh joined PCA in June 2025 as the Archaeobotanist, working on small-large environmental assemblages from all over the country. She has since produced a wide range of small-large-scale environmental assessments and publications, while providing hands-on archaeobotanical training to the Environmental Assistants.

She is an active member of the Archaeobotanical Work Group and Association for Environmental Archaeology, regularly attending events hosted by both groups. Bronagh has also undertaken public speaking engagements for the Pint of Science, Colchester Archaeological Group, and Friends of Colchester Archaeological Trust. Her particular interests lie in archaeological remains of foodstuffs, and the information that can be learned related to past diets.
