Animal Bone Specialist

Tess joined PCA in January 2025 as an Animal Bones Specialist, bringing an MSc in Bioarchaeology (Zooarchaeology pathway) and commercial archaeological fieldwork experience. Since joining the company, she has rapidly developed her specialist skills and now undertakes work on major infrastructure projects and archive reports. She is currently developing an in-house skeletal reference collection to support identification and training. Her research interests focus on animal husbandry and human-animal relationships during periods of cultural transition, with a particular emphasis on horses and their significance in past societies. In addition to zooarchaeology, Tess is trained in finds photography and produces publication-quality images for reports.
